UPDATES!!!!! (Shows and more) by Shanelle Gabriel

Hello family,

You know 2016 is over once (the holiday formally known as) Thanksgiving hits. I can't help but be thankful for the blessings in my life: watching my niece get a perfect score on her spelling test for the 6th time, graduating my first cohort of students at the life skills and job training program I work for, finishing a song with the great folk at JahRock'n Productions, the upcoming events I'll be performing at, and reflecting on the past. Man, I'm blessed, and I know 2017 will be even more amazing. NYC, check out these events, one of which will be streamed live on Facebook for my non-New Yorkers. Also, check out some videos you may have missed.

Throwback: "Damn Near" Official Music Video

In case you missed it, this was one of my FAVORITE songs off of my second album, AIM HIGH. The video for "Damn Near" was done by Broadie from Wasted Imagination Productions and has some DOPE visual effects at the end. Shoutout to model Krystal Garner and stylist Q Diva (on the keys) for making cameos, as well as Therapy Wine Bar for hosting us. Check out the video here and lyrics below: https://youtu.be/alYhiKy_TrQ

DAMN NEAR

You've been the spring in my step
7 months of intimate breaths
You say I'm the one but not yet
(You might be my next regret)

Priority to me
Yet you can't say the same for me
Sayin what will be will be
(Like we don't shape our own destinies)

I'm damn near your everything
As if damn near is comforting
Got my heart on string
On your words dangling

Bridge:
Given you the world
I don't understand
Why I'm not your girl
You're not my man
But I'm damn near it
Ain't that some...

Hook:
Damn near (4x)
Ain't enough

Poem: Tired of orbiting around your world but never landing/ Made you my galaxy/

Thought our love would come crashing together/

but you got me drifting/ You know what...

My patience is running thin
You say wait but I don't think I can
Asking me to give you all of me
(Like getting half of you should make me happy)

You say what did I expect
Well we didn't damn near have sex
My heart you didn't damn near protect
You're just another regret

And I'm supposed to act like it's all fine
When damn near's just a freaking waste of my time
Damn near doesn't even make you mine
This is it, it's the last time I settle for…

Hook

Ooh, I want it all baby (repeat 8x)

Collecting broken women to make yourself whole
This type of game I pray gets old
This kinda lovin' you can't afford
It's high risk but high reward

Recap: 3/22 Show at The Cutting Room NYC by Shanelle Gabriel

Hello!

It was a great time this past weekend at The Cutting Room NYC! I had such a blast performing with such an amazing band: Shoutout to Nate Jones on bass, Walt on guitar, Divine on Keys, Kamaala for always being the dopest background singer a gal could ask for.

While I did mostly songs and poems from my album, AIM HIGH, the biggest treat in my opinion was closing the show with Pharrell's "Happy." People were on their feet jamming and clapping and singing along. It was simply great having so many people there showing love!

Here are some pictures:

Damn Near... The Lyrics by Shanelle Gabriel

As we prepare for the release of the AMAZING video for "DAMN NEAR" (to be premiered on August 15th, the same day as my HUGE show at Aloft Brooklyn), here are the final lyrics to it.

This is definitely one of my favorite songs on my album AIM HIGH.

Searching for the Prototype... (Blog Repost) by Shanelle Gabriel

Summer is here, and summer love is in the air. The beginning stages of something new is always beautiful. I'm absolutely addicted to Andre 3000's "Prototype," because it speaks on this and has such a smooth vibe to it.

"I hope that you're the one....If not, you are the prototype. We'll tiptoe to the sun, and do thangs, I know you'd like. I think I'm in looooove again." -"Prototype"- Andre 3000 from "The Love Below"

Let's all think back to the days when you first met that special someone, whether they are still present in your life or they've gone on with theirs. It's those moments walking holding hands through a park, laughing at randomness on the phone, the moments where you both realized that you felt the same way about each other- these moments make us want to fall in love again and again, even when we know that love doesn't always work out.

Many people close their hearts to the new experience, faulting past hurts and blaming previous relationships for the bitterness and skepticism they hold like concrete around their hearts. But by not realizing that people come into your life for a reason and a season and by focusing on WHAT WENT WRONG, they miss out on the times to smile at and new possibilities of smiling. Maybe he or she wasn't or isn't the one, but they could very well be the prototype of the one to come:

Pro·to·type 1 : an original model on which something is patterned.

This new prospect may just be "The One"...or they can lead you to the person you are meant to be with. They can show you the true you as well as give you an idea of what qualities you would want in"The One." This doesn't only relate to romantic relationships but friendships as well. Be open to new loves and people to love. It's okay to fall in love a few times; third, fourth, or eighth time is a charm. The risk is well worth it. Enjoy love in the here and now, and remember to say "stank you smelly much" to the person standing right in front of you now who's waiting to see if they could be that special friend to you.

Yes the video is creepy, but listen to tha MUSICCCCC!

Free Download/ Listen to My Version of Drake's "Best I Ever Had" by Shanelle Gabriel

Check out my new track. It's a remake of Drake's "Best I Ever Had." I'm trying to make you all replace his version with mine! Free download at http://shanellegabriel.bandcamp.com/

&amp;lt;a href="http://shanellegabriel.bandcamp.com/track/best-i-ever-remix"&amp;gt;Best I Ever... (Remix) by Shanelle Gabriel&amp;lt;/a&amp;gt;

Chorus:

I do a bit of everything
And all I ever wanted
Is to do it real big
Bigger than they've ever done it
Put y'all on to new stuff
One day y'all gon' thank me for it
I'ma last forever I put blood and sweat and tears on it

Cause I hold it down
Every time I hit a note
And when I write, it's like my soul was in the middle of it
I bless the mic and ya gotta give it up
So you say the same thing every single time

You say, "Nell-E, you the best"
"Nell-E, you the best"
"Nell-E, you the best"
"Nell-E, you the best"
"Best I ever heard"
"Best I ever heard"
"Best I ever heard"
"Best I ever heard"
